Mikka has been playing with acrobalance for over 12 years. Finding yoga at 15, she explored many types with many amazing yoga and acroyoga teachers at classes, workshops, immersions and festivals all over the world. Her favorite styles of yoga are Vinyasa flow and Ashtanga, which took her to Mysore, India in 2007 to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. After traveling for 2 years to over 50 countries, she moved to San Francisco for graduate school at UC Berkeley, studying Interior Architecture. Falling in love with San Francisco and the endless opportunities to explore acrobatics, circus arts and aerial dance was a huge inspiration for her movement practice.
A certified yoga teacher, Mikka also has certifications in AcroYoga, Thai Massage, Life Coaching, Circus Yoga and Restorative Yoga. In 2011, she co-founded Bay Acro and started teaching classes, workshops and hosting events all over the world. In addition to her weekly classes, annual events & retreats, Mikka enjoys making custom cakes & raw chocolate. Her current personal explorations include aerial, hoop & zouk dancing, jiu jitsu, soccer, rock climbing, beach volleyball, painting and making art of all kinds.
Mikka‘s classes are fun, creative and inspiring. Deeply moved by her global exploration of aerial dance teachers and training, she enjoys finding the flow within the movement practice. She brings in her background in yoga and acrobatics for alignment, playfulness of the circus arts and love of movement expression to great music. She encourages her students to use acrobatic principles to creatively explore possibilities while having fun with new friends. Mikka enjoys hosting weekly acro-jams and acro-themed events such as Bodywork & Dessert parties to further the great connections and help this community continue to thrive. Private classes, parties or personal training are also available! For more info check out www.mikkaminx.com
